About Meghalaya Agriculture Department
Meghalaya Department of Agriculture की स्थापना मूल रूप से वर्ष 1882 में Department of Agriculture, Assam के रूप में हुई थी। Meghalaya को राज्य का दर्जा मिलने के बाद इसे अलग करके Department of Agriculture, Meghalaya के रूप में विकसित किया गया। विभाग का मुख्य उद्देश्य राज्य में कृषि उत्पादन बढ़ाना, किसानों की आय में सुधार करना और आधुनिक कृषि तकनीकों को गांव स्तर तक पहुंचाना है।
शुरुआत में यह विभाग Agriculture, Horticulture और Minor Irrigation को एक Integrated System के रूप में संचालित करता था। बाद में प्रशासनिक कार्यों को बेहतर बनाने के लिए Directorate of Horticulture का गठन 1995 में और Directorate of Irrigation का गठन 2001 में किया गया। बाद में Irrigation Directorate को Water Resources Department के रूप में अलग किया गया।
